If you’re looking for a trimmer for your nose and ear hair, then you’ve probably come across the Panasonic ER430K Vacuum Nose/Ear Hair Trimmer. Well, is it any good? Does it live up to expectations?

In this review I’m going to reveal what I honestly think about this trimmer, and whether it’s worth you parting with your hard earned cash, or whether you’re better off looking else where.

First off, what do I like about the Panasonic ER430K? Well, one thing that Panasonic boasts about this trimmer, is it’s built in vacuum, designed to suck up the hairs as you trim them. Where do your nose and ear hairs usually go when you trim them with a regular trimmer? Right, they remain right where you trimmed them, and then may be even inhale them. Thankfully, this vacuum function does actually work and does the job it was designed to do. This is a huge benefit.

I also like how easy it is to clean the trimmer. Some models can be such a hassle to clean that it makes me dread using them in the first place, but with the Panasonic ER430K all it takes is a quick rinse and you’re good to go.

Finally, as for good points, I was also very impressed by the battery life. Whether you’re going to be using the trimmer mainly at home or when travelling, a good battery life is always useful. I can take it away with me for a good while without the fear of it dying on me.

What don’t I like about the Panasonic ER430K? To be honest, I do think the size of the device is a little large. It features an “ergonomic design”, and yes, it is very comfortable and easy to hold so this does make up for the size, and is possible why it’s slightly larger in the first place. Ideally, I’d want it a tad smaller but then it probably wouldn’t be so comfortable to hold.

It also features a mirrored cap to help you see any stray hairs. Along with the vacuum feature, this was one of the main reasons that made me buy the trimmer in the first place, but initially I was a little disappointed with it. The mirror wasn’t all that reflective, defeating the object of a mirror! However, I soon found that there were actually a couple of layers of protective plastic covering the mirror surface. I peeled them off and bam, I had myself a mirror! So that’s not so much a downside I guess, but something to look out for.

In conclusion, if you’re in need of a good quality, reliable nose and ear hair trimmer that won’t let you down at home or on the road, then I’d definitely recommend the Panasonic ER430K. You even get a free bag! If you’re very limited on space then this trimmer could take up a bit of room, but for the overall quality and features it has, it more than makes up for this. Ultimately, another great product from Panasonic. Highly recommended.

Right now, Amazon is selling the Panasonic ER430K at a 34% discount off the retail price. This gives you a savings of $10.24 so grab this offer while you can!

I never thought I would NEED a nose and ear trimmer but I guess it comes with the territory. Anyway, today I thought I would share my experiences with the Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer that I’ve been using for the past few months. I ended up purchasing this after my last trimmer died a pitiful sputtering death just like all the ones before that. I’ve probably been using nose and ear trimmers for about 2 years now and I swear they have the lifespan of a housefly. They work great at first and then it’s all downhill after the first use until it finally dies or starts ripping hairs out. Not fun.

The Groom Mate Platinum XL is my first manual nose and ear trimmer, unless you count a pair of scissors. After 3 months of regular use here are my thoughts:

Pros

  • No pulling — I don’t know how the other trimmers I’ve bought in the past could even be called “trimmers” because after a few uses it was more like a tug of war with your nose/ear hairs. The Groom Mate cuts the hair cleanly without grabbing and pulling.
  • Super quiet — Since it’s manually operated, there’s no “buzzzzzz” sound that announces to the world you’re trimming your nose. Actually it was so quiet that at first I wasn’t even sure it was doing anything, but it was!
  • No battery — Another bonus, since this thing is 100% mechanical, there is less that can go wrong with it. No batteries to buy, nothing to recharge, I like it.
  • Solid — The Groom Mate has a nice, satisfying heft to it since it’s made of stainless steel. This thing isn’t going to break into a million pieces when you drop it like those cheap plastic trimmers.
  • Never gets dull — Well, I’m not sure about the “never” part since I’ve only had it 3 months, but it comes with a LIFETIME guarantee, and considering how well made it clearly is, I’m inclined to believe it.
  • Made in the USA — I’m a huge fan of buying USA made products, so I was glad to hear this thing is made right here at home.

Cons

  • Takes practice — It took a few uses to really get the hang of using the Groom mate. It takes two hands to operate and aim the thing, but once you get a feel for it trimming is a breeze.
  • Airports hate them — Found this out the hard way. If you plan on taking this with you in your carry on, you’ll probably get stopped because the Groom Mate basically looks like a large metal bullet on the scanner. Once you explain what it is though you’re good to go.

Bottom Line

Overall I’m very satisfied with the Groom Mate Platinum XL. It’s made right here in America of stainless steel and it’s 100% mechanical so there are no batteries to buy. Best of all it makes trimming quick and painless. I’d say if you’re tired of throwing away cheap battery operated trimmers every month or two like I was, give this one a shot.

Price Alert: Currently Amazon.com is offering a 33% discount for the Groom Mate Platinum XL Trimmer. This is a savings of $9.99 off the retail price.
